Indian Bike
This painting was done in watercolor gouache on paper. We were in Marietta, OH, staying at the historic Lafayette Hotel for a few days in October 2015. The Lafayette sits right on the banks of the Ohio River. That morning I was out early to walk my dog and the sun was just coming up. This bike was parked to the left of my car and the sun shining on it in such a way I could not take my eyes off it. It looked like a rolling piece of art and I wanted to paint it. I did not want to get too close or even take a photo of it without permission from the owner. Shortly, he arrived and saw my fascination with it and allowed me to take my photos. When I finished the painting, I emailed a photo of it to the owner and he purchased it from me. If you look close you can see the red brick of the Lafayette Hotel in the reflection of the chrome.

This painting was done using basic watercolor, but applied in a way as if I were painting with gouache. This was done before I started using gouache as my medium of choice. I believe this painting was completed in the 1980 circa period.
